Easter fun! С ПРАЗДНИКОМ ПАСХИ!
I love celebrating Easter.
It isn't for religious reasons, I just remember the way we used to gather with my family, prepare food together, paint eggs, give our mothers these special flowers and have egg battles! It was lots of fun!
So I try to carry on this tradition and share the fun ways you can celebrate Easter with your family and friends! If you have ideas, please share them too.

Крашеные яйца (Painted Eggs)
As you know, on Easter we paint eggs. Usually they are boiled beforehand and then painted with paints, pencils or even crayons. Sometimes they are boiled with the skin of the red onion and acquire a nice brown gold colour. These days one can find special stickers that envelop the egg when placed in the hot water. We also sometimes write XB which means Христос Воскрес (Christ Is Risen!).
What else do we do?
In my family we used to boil the eggs (paint some of them) bring them to my grandma where the whole family would gather. She'd cook salad Mimoza (made of eggs, potatoes and cane fish), olivie (the Russian salad), pirojki (little pies with meat or potatoes) and holodets (jelly meat). Mmm when I write about it I remember the taste and how full we were after eating all of it!
So after the starters or during, (never mind the order!) we'd paint our eggs and start an egg fight. In this game the person who manages to break the opponent's egg with his egg takes both eggs. I remember my mum used to always attack first and thus she'd almost always win :))
After such parties my granny used to give some more food to carry home because it was impossible to finish it in one day.
Oh, almost forgot! When the guests come to the house, the owner says: 'Христос Воскрес!' and the othe rpeson answers: 'Воистину Воскрес!' which means something like! Christ Is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!

Easter 2014
Hello everyone!
This year I decided to surprise my colleagues by giving each a real Easter treat! I made bunny cookies and little Easter cards to go with an egg wrapped in a masterpiece sticker! I was happy to see that everyone enjoyed it and what's more, I liked to answer questions, explaining the WHY we are celebrating Easter as long as telling them what are the traditional things we do. I wish my family was here with me, but nevertheless, they showed me pics of their festives tables which I want to share with you here.
First some photos of my preparations for the Easter basket surprise :)
