IDEAS FOR TEACHERS :P
Hi everyone!
The new 2015-2016 school year started! |
On this page I want to share with you some ideas and materials that I find while preparing for my lessons. Hope you will find them useful!
I'll be very happy to hear from you! I'm also looking for partners for a cultural exchange project! I want to share this amazing blog with you. Mrs Gerlah has amazing ideas for classroom management and more for 1st and 2nd graders. please have a look: http://learningadventureswithmrsgerlach.blogspot.com.tr/ |
This academic year is finally over and here's what we did with my 1st graders. It was a happy and sad moment to see them having grown up so quickly right before my eyes... And to know that even though they run up to me and hug me everytime they see me, they all grow up and change.... and forget their teachers.... C'est la vie!
I believe that children learn not only in the classroom, but behind its doors as well, so why not give them an opportunity to learn something new from posters that we hang on the walls of our schools?
Happy Teacher's Day!
Last week we celebrated our Professional day! Here's an idea how to congratulate your fellow colleagues and build a stronger bond with students.
We made a poster where each teacher brought their photo when they were a baby and wrote something about themselves. Next to the photo we put a little 'cloud' saying: I think this is ....
The children had to guess WHO is their teacher and write the names! They and us teacher had lots of fun! Especially when the kids were pointing at a baby boy Picture of Harry and saying its me! :)))

Posters
Any teacher knows that the children and parents enjoy seeing their work on the walls of the school. It also is a great way to motivate the pupils, inspire their creativity and is good as an additional visual aid of the topic that has been covered.
Here I would like to share the posters and wall decorations as well as other projects that we used to decorate our school.
For the project above we made origami elephants and in groups created stories about an elephant family. The children were also encouraged to write everything they know about elephants.

Welcome back to school!
As all teachers are preparing for the new school year, I thought it would be nice to share the board ideas that we came up with this year.
We've just finished these ones!
We've just finished these ones!
School starts! In just a few days school will start and we all (teachers) share ideas about how to break the ice, get to know the students and establish some classroom routines. Here are some ideas for starting the day:
Winnie's HouseThis is the class project after having read Winnie in Winter by Korky Paul and Valerie Thomas. The aim is to help children get team work skills as well as activate their vocabulary (furniture) and of course their creativity! The children in the class were divided into 5 groups, each of which made one of the rooms (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room and the roof). Then I put it up together and it is now displayed in the corridor next to the 2-D classroom.
My Exotic AnimalThis was a pair work activity where children were given a colored photo of an exotic animal and were asked to write its descriptipn following the guiding noted on the board (as shown below). In the centre there is an example made by me. Halloween :)The Halloween poster that we made with my mom (yes she was here to visit me!) includes some facts about the day itself, some symbols of Halloween, Halloween cards made by children and around 30 black bats that were leading from the corridor to the poster. And the centre piece - of course - the big happy pumpkin!
Children's Day (23 April)A simple school board with students reflections on what 23 of April day means to them.

FrançaisAmazing visual that our French teachers are lucky to have!
Creativity. In a school I visited the children designed their own T-shirt, here's the result:
Class projects 'How I see our future world'This is from a school that I visited recently. The projects look amazing but of course this is a great deal Art teacher's effort :)
Street PresentationThis Project was made by the teachers. The students (1st graders in our case) were asked to tell about this Street, using prepositions of space, there is/are structure and answering questions (how many...?) The house can be opened and the children get an opportunity to describe the rooms and the Daily routines (ex: I comb my hair, I have breakfast, I do my homework in the bedroom, etc.) FarmA similar portfolio Project based on the farm vocabulary (animals, prepositions, colours)
The TreeVery frequently used theme at schools. This tree was telling about the childrens favourite pets (again 1st grade)
Glass decorSome paints are easily applied on the glass with a trafaret and can later be scrubbed off.
